abstract: This research was conducted to examine more deeply the parenting styles of
single-parent parents in developing children's morals in Sungai Bangkong village,
West Pontianak sub-district because 3 children from single-parent families in Sungai
Bangkong village have bad morals such as rebelling and speaking in words. harsh
words. The purpose of this study is to determine how the perspective of single-parent
parents towards children and how the parenting style of single-parent parents in
developing children's morals in Sungai Bangkong village, West Pontianak sub-district.
This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The techniques used in
data collection are observation, interview, and documentation. The data obtained in this
study include: The results of interviews conducted with single parent parents, children
from single-parent families, and teachers of the children, observations made are
observations about parenting styles of single-parent parents and observe student morals
and documentation. The research subjects were 10 people consisting of 3 students, 6
single-parent parents, and 1 class teacher.
The researcher used two theories as a knife of analysis, namely Mufatihatut
Taubah, which said that children in the Islamic perspective are divided into 4, namely
children as world jewelry, heart conditioning, descendants, and entrants, as well as the
theory of G. Tembong Prasetya which divides the types of parenting into 3 namely the
pattern of authoritative, authoritarian, patient or indulgent parenting and neglect.
The research results obtained are 1). Of the 6 parents, 3 parents think that the
child is the heart and jewelry of the world, 2 parents think that the child is a deposit
and offspring, and 1 person thinks that the child is entrusted, offspring and world
jewelry, 2) From 3 parents, 1 person applies the parenting/indulgence and neglect, 1
person practices indulgence and 1 person applies parenting authoritarianism.
