N2  - The environment is a space in which creatures live on earth, namely living things and creatures including inanimate objects. In the environment there are ecosystems or reciprocal relationships between creatures that need each other so that the environment must be preserved. But in this modern era, environmental problems have become a serious problem, one of which is because of the large number of industries as a form of economic development and can create job. Both large and medium scale industries in carrying out industrial activities not paying attention to environmental sustainability. Therefore, according to the author, a coaching effort from government is needed and the examples of Small and Medium Industry (IKM) that have carried out efforts towards environmental preservation are expected to become role models in environmental preservation. One such IKM is the Sri Tanjung cracker industry in Indramayu Regency, West Java who have carried out efforts towards environmental preservation.
The research method used in this thesis is field research with a normative juridicial approach and the analysed using descriptive analytic methods. The data collection method used by the writer is observation, interview and documentation. While the purpose of this thesis is to determine the efforts of the Sri Tanjung cracker industry towards environmental sustainability with the perspective of maq??id asy-syari?ah and Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management, the proposed theoretical framework is maq??id asy-syari?ah and it?s relation to environmental fiqh and environmental theories.
The research result of this thesis is that the Sri Tanjung cracker industry has carried out efforts towards environmental preservation which are included in the SPPL environmental document. Efforts to preserve the environment in the maq??id asy-syari?ah include the need for al-?ar?riyyah to protect life, religion, reason, descent and the property, but in this thesis the focus is on protecting life and the property because these two things will be affected if the environment is damaged. The efforts made are in accordance with Law Number 32 of 2009 in the form of prevention and obligations to the environment. And if it is related to the contract, there is relationship between environmental impacts and the validity of the contract, because environmental impacts are a risk if the initiator does not carry out the obligations stated in environmental documents so that the contract becomes invalid.
