description: This study analyzes the half-life age of literature on the thesis of library science  students in 2016-2018 UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study,  to determine the characteristics and half-life of the literature used as a reference in  writing thesis for S1 library science students in 2016-2018. This study used a  descriptive quantitative method with a bibliometric study in the form of a half life.  The sampling technique in this study was using proportionate stratified random  sampling, because the population was not homogeneous and the number of theses  was different from each year, from 191 populations 66 samples were generated.  Total citations in this study amounted to 2,279 citations with an average of 35  citations per thesis. Based on the research results, it is known that; 1) the  characteristics of the literature cited in the 2016-2018 library science thesis include  the most cited literature, namely the primary literature of 90.47%. The most cited  form of literature is books at 67.44%. The most cited age was the age of 0-9 years,  amounting to 61.64%. The language of literature most cited is Indonesian literature  with a percentage of 94.64%. 2) As for the middle age and obsolescence of literature  in the library science thesis 2016-2018, the resulting half-life age is 7.8 years. The  number of current citations is 1,454 (64%) and the number of obsolete citations is  825 (36%), with the latest citation year in 2018 and the oldest citation in 1873. The  obsolescence figures that are generated from these statistical calculations do not  mean bad, because there are literature- classical or old literature related to historical  studies or baboon literature (parent/original source). This illustrates that the 2016-  2018 undergraduate thesis of library science students contains relevant and up to  date information.
