abstract: The purpose of this research is to knowing the capability of information literacy of student at public senior highschool 1 banguntapan. This research is quantitative descriptive type with the research subjects being was students at 1 Banguntapan public senior highschool while the object of this research is the analysis of student information literacy abilities using The Big6 information literacy model. The number of research population samples which used in this study were 87 students out of 682 active students in SMA Negeri 1 Banguntapan in the 2020/2021 academic year. The research was conducted from July to September 2020. The research method used in this research is descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The data collection used uses the questionnaire handed to student with a questionnaire of 6 sub-chapter and 19 questions. For validity tests using product moment correlation formulas, and realibillitas tests using the alpha croncbach formula, and Data analysis use a descriptive analysis using mean formula. The results of this research, it can be seen is that the information literacy of students at 1 Banguntapan public senior highschool is in the good category because they get a grand mean value of 3.84. Furthermore, the translation of the value for each sub variable starting from the grand mean for the sub variable definition problem gets a value of 3.88. The grand mean for the sub-variable of information seeking strategies got a value of 3.94. The grand mean for the sub-variable access location got a value of 3.63. The grand mean for the information use sub-variable got a value of 3.87. The grand mean for the synthesis sub variable got a value of 4.06. The grand mean for the sub-evaluation variable got a value 3.68. In the grand mean value, the location and access sub-variables get the lowest score, so public senior highschool 1 banguntapan needs to re-evaluate the location and access used by students in finding information. The other sub-variables are classified as good so they only need to be maintained or improved and make students more efficient in energy or time in finding the information they need.
