This type of research uses library research. Data collection methods used by doing observation, documentation, literature study. Analysis of the data in this study used Semiotic Analysis with Roland Barthes' two-stage approach, namely in the form of denotative and connotative meanings that were seen based on verbal and visual signs. The results of this study are that in the representation of literacy practices in Kartini's films using Roland Barthes' semiotics, it is concluded into 3 (three) basic categories, namely Reading, Writing, and Implementation of reading and writing results. The reading category is carried out from early awareness to adulthood and is carried out continuously. Writing categories are carried out with various reference materials to add and develop ideas so that they can be posted in a writing. The implementation category of the results of reading and writing is manifested in various activities including inviting reading, pouring ideas into a work, and also teaching reading and writing to others.} }
