This descriptive qualitative study used a purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Then, the data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification. The data validity test used credibility through the triangulation technique. The results showed that (1) achievement motivation is within each individual. However, the reaction and implementation process depend on the individual too. Other factors influencing the process are intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Intrinsic factors are within the individual, while extrinsic factors come from outside the librarian. The intrinsic factor covers the librarian's desire to succeed, gain experience, self-proving, self-actualization, and career development. Meanwhile, extrinsic factors consist of full supports from families, friends, superiors, and institutions. Being an outstanding librarian is a social need that can support the career, be widely known, and increase self-confidence in serving users. Users also increase trust and admire their achievement. (2) establishment of impression management factor is due to the goal to be achieved. The goal is to change the image of the librarian in which the image of the librarian is still not as good as other professions in the community. Thus, the librarian makes an impression to increase their social status. (3) the impression management process performed after being an outstanding librarian includes implementation strategies through the front and back stages, namely: a) showing strengths on the front stage and cover weaknesses on the backstage, b) showing competence, ability, and achievement to be considered as a competent person, c) showing good moral and integrity to be respected and admired by others, d) showing physical attractiveness, explaining self-character and self-identity of what the librarian displays and wear, and e) motivating and encouraging oneself to change the image.
