N2  - The inception of Act of Republic Indonesia Number 1 of 2003 concerning Micro Financial Institutions led to the dualism of regulations regarding the supervision of Micro Financial Institutions (MFI), viz. againsts Act Number 25 of 1992 concerning Cooperatives. The dualism or overlapping happens as an implication of the enforcement of provisions that MFIs are to be incorporated as cooperatives. Furthermore, the development of MFIs in Indonesia was followed by the emergence of many cases of fraudulent or embezzlement resulting the loss of customer funds. This research is focusing on the urgency of MFIs supervision in Indonesia which was done by reviewing supervision of MFIs in Indonesia based on the concept of Maq??id Asy-Syar?'ah and by conducting legal analysis referring to the existing regulations.
The type of this research is field research with a normative juridical approach. The method used for data analyzing in this qualitative research was descriptive ? analytic. Those data were obtained by literature review from all written sources, both printed and electronic media.
The results of this study showed that supervision of MFIs in Indonesia is carried out with coordination between two attributive authorized institutions, those are Financial Services Authority and Ministry of Cooperatives. The Financial Services Authority has the authority to supervise the business activities carried out by MFIs, while the Ministry of Cooperatives has the authority to oversee the institutionalization of MFIs that are incorporated as cooperatives. Furtheromore, the level of supervision realization occupies the ??r?riyyat level or a necessity because MFI is regarded to be a means (wa??lah) to achieve the five main aspects (religion, soul, mind, descent, and property). So, its existence must be maintained mindfully, and also the things that hinder its absence must be eliminated. Furthermore
