"ANTARA TEKNOLOGI DAN TEOLOGI\r\nSTUDI PENDISIPLINAN AKTOR PERPUSTAKAAN\r\nPERGURUAN TINGGI ISLAM DI YOGYAKARTA"^^ . "Technology and theology are two fundamental elements in\r\nfulfilling the activities of human physical and spiritual needs.\r\nTheology can be defined as the systematic study of the nature of the\r\ndivine and, more broadly, of religious belief, while technology is the\r\napplication of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human life.\r\nThe latter produces a variety of new breakthroughs that have the\r\nability of artificial intelligence in a variety of modern devices, such as\r\nfingerprint, RFID, CCTV, and so on. In the library, these tools are\r\nused as a support for the compliance of the performance of the library\r\nactors in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP).\r\nCompliance is also driven by religious morality as theological\r\nobedience in the form of hisab and muraqobah expressed through\r\nvarious religious activities, such as prayer and recitation to build the\r\ndiscipline of the actors. This phenomenon is examined as an effort to\r\nuncover the effects of technology and theology on the discipline of the\r\nactors in library management.\r\nThis descriptive qualitative research with field research as a\r\nmethod of data collection was done in the libraries of three Islamic\r\nuniversities in Yogyakarta, i.e., UIN Sunan Kalijaga, UMY, and UII.\r\nThis study uses a posthuman paradigm and a phenomenological\r\napproach. Data collection is done by observation, interview, and\r\ndocumentation. Interviews are conducted with three library heads,\r\nthree technology division heads, three people who handle the religious\r\nprogram, a number of librarians, and users. Data validation uses data\r\ntriangulation techniques. The data are then analyzed using interactive\r\nmodels of Miles and Huberman through the process of collection,\r\nreduction, display, and verification.\r\nThis study indicates a number of important findings. First, the\r\ninteraction of library actors in the technology and theological\r\nframeworks found the practice of interaction between actors in\r\nlibraries that represent a socially thick relationship with structural,\r\ncollegial, and cultural nuances that utilize technology and theology as\r\nsupporting activities in the interaction. Technology offers easiness for\r\nthe interaction both individually and institutionally by utilizing social\r\nmedia, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger and website pages as\r\na means to communicate. Likewise in the theological realm, it is\r\n\r\ndescribed that there is an interaction activity in planting religious\r\nvalues that are expressed in various religious activities.\r\nSecond, mediation of technology and theology in the library\r\ncauses changes in perception and praxis. Perceptions of the presence\r\nof modern technology change the way of viewing and insight, even\r\nthe lifestyles of the actors in the library, while the praxis of\r\ntechnology makes manual and traditional activities shift to the process\r\nof online automation and digitization. Meanwhile, theological\r\nmediation is seen in relation to religious phenomena which include\r\nreligious programs or activities carried out in the library, such as\r\nlectures, Qur‟an recitation, duha praying, and so on. This religious\r\nphenomenon has an effect on the inculcation of religious values both\r\nin terms of perception and praxis.\r\nThird, there is a contestation between technology and theology in\r\ndisciplining actors in libraries because they are no longer regarded as\r\nmere tools or concepts, but are actants or actors capable of providing\r\ndisciplinary effects. Administratively, this addresses that the actors in\r\nlibrary management are in a position of discipline. However, if seen in\r\ntheir performance, they can be grouped into a number of disciplinary\r\npatterns, i.e., coming on time directly to work, coming on time then\r\nleaving, and coming to work late. This discipline pattern shows\r\nweaknesses in disciplining actors through technology, so it is\r\nnecessary to instill internal values which in this case are theological in\r\nnature to cover up the weaknesses of the above disciplines.\r\nTheological discipline patterns include hisab and muraqobah. At this\r\npoint, technology and theology have the disciplinary power needed\r\nand support one another. The disciplinary power of these two\r\nelements implicitly contains disciplinary contestation in library\r\nmanagement. Technology is based on external regulation, while\r\ntheology is based on regulation of internal values.\r\nThis study finds a novelty shown in a contested phenomenon\r\nbetween technology and theology. From the intensive search, there\r\nhas not been a piece of writing that fully contests technology and\r\ntheology in library management. The intended contestation\r\nspecifically indicates a power struggle called contesting or competing\r\npower based on the panopticon framework in Michel Foucault's\r\ndisciplinary power. The terminology of competing power is an\r\nimportant concept that is processed in libraries to build critical\r\nawareness for library managers for a number of reasons.\r\n\r\nTechnological strength cannot be separated from weaknesses that can\r\nbe manipulated by technology actors for certain interests, so there is a\r\nneed for awareness of other strengths, i.e., theological values as power\r\nguiding behavior. However, this internal power also has a weakness,\r\nthat is, the instability of human transcendental values."^^ . "2020-08-14" . . . . "UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA"^^ . . .
