Maksudin, M.Ag abstract: Intercultural competence is one of the orientations in foreign language learning today. Foreign language learning projections do not stop at linguistic proficiency and language skills but also interact with cross-cultural approaches. The competency frame is designed and directed so that students, apart from being able to communicate in the target language, are also able to understand and accept people from various socio-cultural backgrounds without neglecting their own culture. In the context of learning Arabic in Indonesia, the government's attention to intercultural competence can be seen in the MA level Arabic textbooks published by the Ministry of Religion in 2020. However, based on the preliminary studies that researchers have conducted, there are still problems with it. This research seeks to identify more deeply related to intercultural competences in Arabic textbooks at the MA level of the Ministry of Religion 2020 by based on formulations related to types of information and cultural elements, as well as cross-cultural communication competencies in it. This study is of a literary style with the object of material for Arabic textbooks at the MA level of the Ministry of Religion in 2020. While the formal objects are Adaskou's theory of cultural information types, Brown's theory of cultural elements, and Michael Byram's theory of cross-cultural communication competence. All of the research objects were obtained using documentation techniques. The content analysis is a technique used to examine and answer the problem formulations in this study. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The types of cultural information in the Arabic language textbooks at the Madrasah Aliyah level published by the Ministry of Religion consist of visual information, idioms and collocations, descriptive or informative texts, contextual tasks, dialogue, reality, and cultural records. This type of information mostly represents the target culture (Arabic) and source (Indonesian), while the least international culture is found in it; 2) The cultural elements in the Arabic textbooks of Madrasah Aliyah level published by the Ministry of Religion in 2020 consist of religion, social organization, forms of government, language, art and literature, economic system, and customs and traditions.
