Hamdan Daulay, M.Si., MA. abstract: Handling the rampant hoax news about Covid-19 vaccination must start from the mass media and the public itself by knowing and understanding how to identify which communication messages need and do not need to be produced and disseminated so as not to cause disinformation, noise and mistrust in the midst of massive community about Covid-19 vaccination. Seeing the phenomenon that occurs, it is necessary to conduct research to obtain solutions to social realities that occur in the community, so that the community is able to feel high comfort and optimism in following the Covid-19 vaccination. The theories used are Hoax or Fake News, the Nine Elements Theory of Journalism Principles, and the Theory of the Press of Social Responsibility. This research method is qualitatively descriptive with data collection through observation, interview and documentation with the Editorial Board of Koran Kedaulatan Rakyat (KR) Yogyakarta. This research ultimately concluded that, Koran Kedaulatan Rakyat (KR) Yogyakarta in preventing Covid-19 vaccination hoax news implements 9 (nine) principles of journalism, namely: Obligation in conveying truth, loyalty to the community, discipline in verifying, independence of news sources, monitoring power, providing a forum for criticism and support from and for the community, trying to make important, interesting and relevant, comprehensive and proportionate. The obstacles found by the Koran Kedaulatan Rakyat (KR) Yogyakarta in preventing the news of the Covid-19 vaccination hoax include: first, the emergence of news and information about the covid-19 vaccination hoax is caused by press freedom which is considered "too far" in Indonesia, where everyone is able to voice his opinion without being able to pay attention to the applicable legal rules. Second, the public in the current era of media digitization has an eccentric tendency. That is, liking an information or news that leads to a hoax so enthusiastically and thoroughly. The solution provided by Koran Kedaulatan Rakyat (KR) Yogyakarta in preventing the news of the Covid-19 vaccination hoax in public is: first, tabayyun or check back carefully the information or news that has been received. Whether information or news can be accounted for or not the truth in public and law. Second, having the attitude of tawaqquf is able to refrain from believing information or news that is not yet clear the truth, especially about the Covid-19 vaccination. Third, have tajannub al-Zhann attitude that is, the attitude that must be owned by the public in the form of being able to avoid bad assumptions or prejudices against information or news before doing fact-checking on the ground for real. And finally, strengthen the potential of public media literacy by the government, private sector, literacy community, the world of education that targets professionals to the public. date: 2021-07-29 date_type: published pages: 180 institution: SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS DAKWAH DAN KOMUNIKASI thesis_type: masters thesis_name: other citation: M.
