N2  - Traditional markets are a very important economic sector for the majority of the population in Indonesia. Temanggung Regency is one of the regencies in Central Java with the majority of its population consisting of lower-middle-class communities, many of which depend on traditional markets for their livelihood. Becoming a trader in a traditional market is an alternative job in the district. Along with the development of the times, the development of a rampant series of supermarkets, hypermarkets and convenience stores in Temanggung Regency makes traditional market traders concerned. One of them is the Kliwon market, which is located in the middle of the city of Temanggung Regency, now competing with the market. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the existence of a modern market on the income of traditional market operators measured by 3 variables, namely turnover, profits and number of consumers. The research method used is a quantitative method that uses primary data taken from traditional market participants and tested using classical hypothesis tests and regression tests. The results show that the existence of a modern market affects the turnover, profits and number of consumers, but turnover and profits do not affect the income of the merchants, only the number of consumers which affects the income of the merchants in Pasar Kliwon Temanggung . Fewer consumers come, merchants' income also decreases.
