abstract: This research aims to determine the relation between social support and emotional intelligence on the adjustment of new students. The subjects in this research were 107 new students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and use accidental sampling. The data collection technique in this research is using self-adjustment scale which has an alpha coefficient of 0.915, the social support scale has an alpha coefficient of 0.842, and the emotional intelligence scale has an alpha coefficient of 0.867. Analysis technique in this research is multiple regression. The results showed that there was a positive relation between social support and emotional intelligence on self-adjustment in new students with a significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05). The effective contribution given by social support and emotional intelligence to self-adjustment is in the amount of 62.1%. Furthermore, there is a positive relation between social support and adjustment with an effective contribution of 3.4%. Finally, there is a positive relation between emotional intelligence and self-adjustment with an effective contribution of 58.7%.
