This study used qualitative methods with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews and data analysis using self-injury theory and strength perspective. The participants of this study were six students from Wahid Hasyim Al Qur'an Science High School. The results of this study indicate that self-injury behavior is motivated by both internal and external factors; two forms of self-injury behavior by Science High School students are included in the category of moderate self-injury and stereotypic self-injury.
