"This research aims to describe the importance of digital literacy in minimizing \r\nthe negative impact of hoax consumed by the society through various contents of \r\nsocial media during the Covid-19 pandemic in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. This \r\nresearch uses qualitative descriptive method by observing the ongoing phenomena. \r\nPaul Gilster’s Theory of Digital Literacy is used as the scientific approach to analyze \r\nthe perception and attitude of the society toward hoax on social media during the \r\nCovid-19 pandemic. The research results conclude several assumptions, which \r\nare: first, hoax lead the society to wrong perceptions and actions in responding to \r\nthe ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Second, mastery of digital literacy needs to be \r\ndeveloped continuously in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta because most of the society \r\ntends to be affected by hoax information which circulates on social media.
