The work of a public accountant can be used as an important consideration in public policy. However, the interest of accounting students in Yogyakarta to become a public accountant is still low. The majority of accounting students are more interested in becoming accountants for private companies. This study aims to determine the effect of gender, social values, professional training and financial rewards on the interest in a career as a public accountant in accounting students in Yogyakarta. The independent variables in this study were gender, social values, professional training and financial rewards. The dependent variable in this study is the interest in a career as a public accountant in accounting students in Yogyakarta. Sampling was carried out using a cluster random sampling technique so as to produce 139 samples with accounting student respondents from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, YKPN Accounting Academy, UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, Nahdhatul Ulama University Yogyakarta, Muhammadiyah University Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta State University, Indonesian Islamic University and PGRI University. Yogyakarta. This type of research is quantitative causality. The data analysis in this study uses multiple linear regression analysis which is processed using SPSS version 24 test tool. The results of this study indicate that professional training and financial rewards have a positive and significant effect on career interest as public accountants in accounting students in Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, gender and social values have no effect on the interest in a career as a public accountant in accounting students in Yogyakarta.} }
