"The background of this research problem is that there are still many PAI learning practice problems that focus on the cognitive domain which forces students to memorize the material only and develop affective which is practiced by students in everyday life. The results that are easily obtained by students who memorize religious knowledge are different from their practice. Many students know about religious material because they memorize learning material but are not clear in their emotional intelligence. Ideally, someone who has a good understanding of religion will be in harmony with his behavior, but in practice, behavior is still found that is not in line with deviations from religious knowledge because the focus of the learning provided is only cognitive theoretical. Based on this problem, it is necessary to conduct further research on the humanistic approach of PAI teachers in schools to improve the emotional intelligence of students.\r\nThis type of research is a qualitative research using an educational sociology approach. As for the technique of data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. While the research data were analyzed using qualitative analysis, namely data reduction, verification, and conclusions. Furthermore, in testing the validity of the data in this study is data triangulation, namely technical triangulation, source triangulation, and time triangulation.\r\nThe results showed that: First, the implementation of the interaction of the humanistic approach of PAI teachers at SMAN 1 Soppeng was carried out during the PAI KBM process and also applied outside of learning hours, namely during religious activities. The humanistic approach of the PAI teacher at SMAN 1 Soppeng begins with a personal or group approach to students. Implementation in the learning process through the preparation of lesson plans, getting used to prayer at the beginning and at the end of learning, explaining the material with the help of learning strategies and media, providing open opportunities for all students to ask questions and express opinions, provide advice and motivation to students, and provide evaluations for see the extent to which students understand the material that the teacher explains. The process of a humanistic approach outside of learning is carried out during religious activities, such as midday prayers, routine donations, cadres, Qur'an literacy and so on. PAI teachers provide religious habituation, role models and motivation directly to students. Secondly humanistic approaches have implications for increasing students' emotional intelligence, which is reflected in the attitude of recognizing emotions, managing emotions,\r\nmotivating yourself, empathizing and the ability to build relationships. The third, The advantages of the humanistic approach of PAI teachers at SMAN 1 Sopppeng in increasing the emotional intelligence of students are the creation of a comfortable and respectful atmosphere, a pleasant school environment, increased adaptability and increased student activity.
