The research method used is qualitatively descriptive. Data collection techniques use observation and referential (film references and non-film references). Data analysis techniques use a model of Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics approach that is appropriate and commonly used to study the meaning of a sign in the media. Peirce views the sign as a triadik structure composed of three elements. The three elements are the sign (representment), Object (object), and the result of meaning by interpreter (interpretant). The results of the study found three important points. The first literacy practice in the film Taare Zameen Par that is widely featured is the practice of reading and writing. The level of literacy practice has met 4 levels of literacy practice, namely performative, functional, informational and epistemic levels. Both obstacles experienced by the main character Ishaan is difficulty reading (difficulty distinguishing and sounding letters with similar shapes, difficulty spelling, and the letters are reversed), difficulty writing (addition, omission, inversion and reversal), and difficulty concentrating. The three solutions to the obstacles experienced by Ishaan are learning with linguistic, multy-sensory and phonics learning methods.} }
