abstract: This descriptive-qualitative research aims to determine the stages of family counseling by collecting data using interviews, observation and reinforced using documentation. The subject is an officer at PPKS Kencana who in this case becomes a counselor in the process of implementing family counseling. The data collection process was carried out by means of interviews, non-participant observations and documentation.
The research subjects were two PPKS Kencana counselors. The research subject is a form to determine the stages of family counseling used by the counselor.
The results showed that the stages of family counseling to improve family welfare, the forms of the stages of family counseling were 1. Development of report cards was carried out (introductions), 2. Development of Emotional Appreciation was carried out (listening to the client, knowing the client's emotions, and affirming the problem) 3. Development of Alternative Behavioral Modes is carried out (determining the root or source of the problem), 4 Stages of Counseling Implementation are carried out (using SEFT therapy) and 5. Evaluation Stage is carried out. Based on existing client data and according to the second counselor, he stated that he would definitely use SEFT therapy and also look at the problems the client had experienced.
