"The study aims at elaborating and analyzing the role of Applied\r\nIslamic Science paradigm as a guide for the development of science\r\nand institution of IAIN Kudus in ‘market oriented versus humanism’\r\nframe in education. There are four questions to answer in this study.\r\n1) After institutional transformation, why is Applied Islamic Science\r\nas IAIN Kudus paradigm revitalization essential and strategic? 2)\r\nWhat is the AIS concept as a scientific paradigm? 3) How does the\r\nacademic community respond and apply AIS in response to the world\r\nof work challenges? 4) With AIS paradigm concept in hand, how does\r\nIAIN Kudus respond the industrial revolution 4.0 opportunities and\r\nchallenges to maintain its existence? This case study is qualitative in\r\nnature. The data obtained by observation, in-depth interview, and\r\ndocument analysis were processed and analyzed in six steps, i.e.\r\ntranscribing the interview, coding, categorizing into similar themes,\r\nnarrating by comparing and contrasting data, interpreting, and drawing\r\nconclusions.\r\nFour main conclusions are drawn from this study. First, the\r\nrevitalization of AIS as IAIN Kudus paradigm is essential and\r\nstrategic following the institutional transformation for earlier\r\nparadigm, transformative Islam, was regarded ineffective guiding\r\nIAIN Kudus for future development. On the other hand, AIS\r\nparadigm, previously failed to be internalized due to unfavored\r\npolitical dynamics, is more potential bearing science and college\r\ndevelopment paradigm. Second, conceptual-theoretically, AIS is a\r\nparadigm that pinpoints practice (applied) aspect of Islamic sciences\r\nwhich makes AIS focuses on two scientific projects, science\r\nproduction and science application, and makes IAIN Kudus distinct.\r\nThe two projects (theoretical and practical) make Applied Islamic\r\nSciences paradigm has the potency to bridge between market oriented\r\nand humanism of a college. To make it easy, AIS implementation is\r\nformulated into 3 concepts of value, namely Humanity, Productivity,\r\nand Applicability. Third, the IAIN Kudus academic community responses to AIS paradigm are presented in various forms. Academic\r\nresponses in the form of books and of papers published in journals\r\n(still limited in number), verbal responses in group discussion forums\r\n(on how difficult it is to understand AIS paradigm concept), and AIS\r\nimplementation responses through tridarma perguruan tinggi are\r\namong others. However, the implementation of AIS through tridarma\r\nperguruan tinggi is uneasy due to the absence of standard indicators\r\nand measurements to evaluate the AIS paradigm concept-based\r\nactivities. Fourth, IAIN Kudus owns potencies to maintain its\r\nexistence. Social capital and the network, symbolic capital and the\r\nhonored heritage, cultural capital and the applied Islam basis\r\ncompetence, and internalized structures derived from institution’s core\r\nvalues are the institute’s assets to convert IAIN Kudus to PTKIN\r\n(State Islamic Religious College) that excellently develops Applied\r\nIslamic Sciences. Unfortunately, IAIN Kudus has to do several\r\nadjustments coping with the opportunities and challenges in the\r\nindustrial revolution 4.0 era."^^ . "2021-12-30" . . . .
