%X Children in conflict with the law are children in conflict with the law who are  12 years old and under 18 years old. In the Klaten prison, there are many cases of  children, both guidance and supervision of child clients, since its establishment in  2018 until now cases of child diversion have also increased form the last 3 years, but  only a few cases have failed in the version, on the website. The author found that the  child diversion failed in the case of a traffic accident, but the website did not include  the reason for failing in the version, therefor the author is interested in researching the  failed diversion in the Klaten, because according the theory, children should receive  special protection in cases of dealing with the law because children is the future of the  nation that will bring changes to the country.  The type of this research is field research (field study), the nature of this  research is qualitative, the research approach is normative-empirical, the data  collection technique is interview and literature study, and the analysis technique of  this research is descriptive-analytical.  The results of the study conclude that: First, the process of children dealing  with the law at the Klaten Penitentiary begins with the entry of data on children's  cases in the prison. Following up on the case, the Fathers and Corrections conducted  a home visit to the residence of the child and the victim, and attempted to reconcile  the two parties by bringing the two parties together. Furthermore, if no common  ground is found, the Klaten Fathers will provide assistance to the child for diversion  efforts at the police level. in the stage of diversion efforts from the police to the  judiciary failed, the case reached the court stage. After the judge's decision, the  Fathers continue to supervise the child. Second, factors causing diversion failure are  the victim’s lack of awareness to make diversion efforts victims still want revenge  against the perpetrators and external influences from the community.
