Among its meanings are the Quran, the Torah, obligations, a book of deeds of deeds, and others. Meanwhile, outside the context of the Quran, kit{\=a}b has a simple basic meaning, namely a book or scriptures. If the basic meaning of kit{\=a}b is used to interpret every word kit{\=a}b in the Quran, the interpretation and understanding of the Qur'anic text will be incoherent and inappropriate. Based on this, the author is compelled to examine the meaning of the word kit{\=a}b in the Qur'an. This study uses the basis of Toshihiko Izutsu's semantic theory. Because this theory is considered the right theory to be used in analyzing the meaning of a word. With this theory, the word kit{\=a}b will appear with various meanings depending on the supporting lexeme or keyword elements. In other words, lexemes and keywords are influential in a new understanding of the concept of the word kit{\=a}b and its meaning from a semantic perspective. Thus, keywords are able to reveal the meanings of the word kit{\=a}b in the Quran. The research method used in this thesis is library research that takes data from various books as references. The results show that based on the analysis of the meaning field, the word kit{\=a}b has a syntagmatic relationship with the words Allah, the prophet, the people who received kit{\=a}b, revelation, tanz{\=i}l and inz{\=a}l, mu{\d s}addiq, mub{\=i}n, faith, the Day of Judgment, and slavery. Meanwhile, paradigmatically, the word kit{\=a}b has a meaning relationship with su{\d h}uf, far{\d d}, and lauhulmahfuz. Based on this research, the word kit{\=a}b has several meanings in the Qur'an, namely: 1) the Qur'an, 2) the Torah, 3) the Bible, 4) the holy books, 5) lauhulmahfuz, 6) a book of charity, 7) obligations, 8) entering into an agreement. , 9) writing work, 10) books, 11) letters.} }
