This study aims to describe the form/attitude of a moderate Muslim character Ibn 'Arabi and the process of its formation in the Maqāmāt al-'Isyq film series. This research uses hermeneutic analysis research method which aims to interpret moderate Muslim data in the Maqāmāt al-'Isyq series and the repertoire of researchers. The repertoire of this researcher is one of the supporting elements in this research based on the theory used, namely Wolfgang Iser's Literary Reception. The results of this study have two points, namely the attitude of moderate Muslims in the character of Ibn 'Arabi and the factors behind the formation process in Ibn 'Arabi. The researcher uses the theory of helping moderate Muslims described by Afrizal Nur and Mukhlis. Moderate Muslims according to Afrizal Nur and Mukhlis are divided into 10 characters. As for the representation of moderate Muslim figures, Ibn 'Arabi found 9 characters, namely as follows: Tawāzun (moderate), I'tidāl (being firm and fair), Tasāmuḥ (respect for differences), Musāwāḥ (treating the same, even though different ethnicity, race, culture and belief), Syurā (consulting in solving problems), Iṣlāḥ (taking new good policies by continuing good old traditions), Aulawiyah (prioritizing important things), Taṭawwur wa al-Ibtikār (open attitude to make changes) and Tahaddur (upholding high morals). The factors behind the formation process are divided into two, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include the role model of the Father, the role model of the Mother, intellectual intelligence and the Sufi journey (behavior) of Ibn 'Arabi. External factors include the influence of two Sufi teachers, living within the scope of the ulama' and the social conditions of the people during their lifetime. %Z Pembimbing: Dr. Aning Ayu Kusumawati S.Ag., M.Si
