abstract: It is undeniable that the cases of sexual violence against women are increasing, with
victim varied from the age of children, teenagers, to adults. Perpetrators do not
discriminate against victims, anyone can be a victim. Like there is no safe place for
women from the threat of sexual violence, the Familial is no longer a safe place for
adolescent girls. The impact on the victims is very complex including on young girls.
Coping strategies are carried out as an effort to overcome stressfull situations and
conditions that are considered burdensome as a result of the sexual violence
experienced. The purpose of this research is to describe the coping strategies used by
adolescent girls who are victims of Familial abuse sexual violence. This research was
conducted using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach with data
collection methods in the form of interviews and observations. The informants in this
study were 2 people who were obtained using the purposive sampling technique with
predetermined criteria, namely adolescent girls aged 13-17 years, experienced sexual
violence by Familial members, and domiciled in West Java. Based on the results of the
study, it was found that both informants used two types of coping strategies, namely
problem focused coping in the form of confrontative, planful problem solving and
seeking social support, as well as emotion focused coping in the form of self control
and avoidance. This study also shows several factors of coping strategies carried out
by the informants, namely the existence of belief in themselves and God, social support,
accepting the situation and positive thinking, and the existence of resilience abilities.
