%X Global development studies tend to pay attention to the achievement of economic growth. In fact, the development of the global community confirmed the existence of a large gap between gender and development. The purpose of the study was to determine the direct and indirect effects of gender indices, economic growth and welfare. This study uses a quantitative approach. The object in this study was the Human Development Report in 2017 to 2019 which was downloaded on the official website of the United Nations Development Programme. The results show that (1) gender indices have no effect on economic growth; (2) gender indices and economic growth affect people's welfare; and (3) gender indices through economic growth have no effect on people's welfare.
