Many factors influence the village community to maintain barter, one of which is the community's economic factor and the location of the village which is far from the city center. In addition, the ease and effectiveness of time is also one of the indicators why the people of Gunung Tompe village still carry out the tradition from generation to generation until now. This research is a field research and descriptive-analytic, namely by describing what is the focus of research and analyzing field data to observe and identify the main problems that are the focus of the research study. The data collection method was carried out by field study, where primary data was obtained from interviews and observations in the village of Gunung Tompe, Sukolilo District, Pati Regency, Central Java. then analyzed using a comprehensive juridical approach to obtain research conclusions. In addition, we also obtained data from law books, journals, theses, papers and other writings. While secondary data obtained from various kinds of writings that support this research. The results of this study indicate that the practice of barter agreements in the village of Gunung Tompe which has occurred from generation to generation is broadly in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations stipulated in the Civil Code, although it is not uncommon in practice there are discrepancies. juridically, however, the villagers have their own way or guidelines which they have agreed upon. In addition, in making barter agreements, the community does not yet have its own mechanism to provide legal protection if there are parties who experience losses, usually only deliberation from both parties is carried out to find the best solution.
