abstract: This study aims to determine the the influence's magnitude of Instagram @infolombamenulis account posts to motivate and take part in writing competitions for its followers. Today, Internet is a medium for communication tools that are widely used by people in their daily needs. One of which is social media. By using the internet, social media users can easily to find out the needed information like using Instagram. The researcher interested in conducting the research on instagram accounts @infolombamenulis and its followers. This research used diffusion of innovation theory. The method used is a quantitative method using survey type. For the sampling, the research used purposive sampling with students as the respondents. The data collection was distributing by online questionnaire to 100 respondents who follow the Instagram account of @infolombamenulis. The result of the study found that the posting at @infolombamenulis instagram account influences the motivation to follow the writing contest to the followers by 50,6%.
