This research contributes to the study of educational psychology, and students with bipolar disorder in the city of Bandung. A positive psychological approach with Ed Diener's subjective wellbeing theory is used in this study to understand how the meaning shifts, the way in which it is obtained, and what factors affect subjective well-being in students with bipolar disorder. This study uses a qualitative method with phenomenological interpretive analysis techniques, and data collection techniques in the form of participatory observation in the Indonesian Bipolar Care community, semistructured interviews, and documentation. This study found that subjective wellbeing in students with bipolar disorder is related to self-acceptance, self-love, feeling stable emotions, achieving goals, and fulfilling social, biological, psychological and spiritual aspects. In this case, some students with bipolar disorder are quite able to feel well-being/happiness even though they still feel a lot of negative emotions. But on the other hand, there are still some respondents who do not feel prosperous, this is because the financial aspects have not been achieved, such as still debt, unfinished studies, unsupportive work environment, and assume that bipolar is a self-identity that sticks for life. Meanwhile, the way they get their subjective well-being is by engaging in more meaningful and positive activities such as participating in mental support communities, doing hobbies and being active in off-campus activities. In evaluating positive and negative affect, respondents must keep both camps to an appropriate level, so as not to fall back into impulsive and depressive behavior. So that a cognitive evaluation that includes good problem solving is needed to obtain calm and improve the quality of life that is more useful. %K subjective well-being; college students; bipolar disorder; psikologi %D 2022 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib50645
