PSKQ Modern Kudus is one of the qur'an calligraphy boarding school in Indonesia. Santri PSKQ Modern Kudus have won many qur'an calligraphy competitions, besides that, there are also students who don't succeed or are lazy when they are in the lodge. This contradictory phenomenon cannot be separated from the role of the kiai's interpersonal communication with the santri in the Qur'anic calligraphy learning process. The purpose of this study was to find out how the role of kiai's interpersonal communication with students in the process of learning qur'an calligraphy at PSKQ Modern Kudus. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection through interviews and in-depth documentation with the research subject, as well as using interpersonal communication theory. The subjects taken as research samples were 1 kiai or pesantren caregiver, 1 head of the pesantren and 1 santri at the pesantren. The results of this study indicate that the kiai at PSKQ Modern Kudus build interpersonal communication with their students in the Qur'an calligraphy learning process well, as evidenced by the kiai using approaches that are in accordance with the existing approach to interpersonal communication, namely openness, empathy, support, attitude positivity and equality. %Z Pembimbing: Dr. Fatma Dian Pratiwi, S.
