N2  - This research is motivated by the lack of use of varied learning methods, thus making some students less enthusiastic, tend to be passive and lack motivation in learning. Therefore, it is necessary to use interesting learning methods to be more enthusiastic and active in learning, and must have the motivation to be more confident. This study aims to (1) apply the snowball throwing method to the mathematics subject in the fifth grade classroom building material. (2) to analyze student responses to the snowball throwing method. (3) To find out whether the snowball throwing method in the mathematics subject matter of spatial construction can increase students' motivation and learning outcomes in class V at SD Muhammadiyah Lubuklinggau.
This type of research is an experimental study with a one group pretest-posttest design used. The population used in this study was in class V with a total of 20 students at SD Muhammadiyah Lubuklinggau. The sample in this study was used in population research where all the population was sampled, because it only used 1 class. Data collection techniques using tests, questionnaires, observations, interviews and documentation.
The results of this study indicate: (1) In the implementation of the snowball throwing method in this study, the teacher first explained the material, and the teacher formed groups into 4 groups of 5 people, the teacher asked the group leader to come forward to be given direction in the process. learning the snowball throwing method, the group leader returns to his group and re-explains the directions that have been explained by the teacher, after that the teacher distributes a sheet of paper to each group, students write questions about the material that has been explained by the teacher and form it like a ball, then throw it another group for 5 minutes and the group that gets the paper ball must answer in its place, after the game is finished the teacher re-evaluates the material that has been explained earlier and the teacher ends the lesson. (2) Student responses to the implementation of the snowball throwing learning method can train preparation for learning, understand and understand math subjects, increase courage in asking friends and teachers, can answer questions from friends and teachers, be able to work with other friends and have a sense of responsibility. This means that the snowball throwing method is very well responded by students because they can play while learning and make students more active than previous learning. (3) Penerapan metode snowball Throwing berpengaruh yang signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa dengan skor 57,15 meningkat menjadi 77,85 dan berdasarkan uji t mendapatkan nilai adalah 2,09 < 9,396 > 2,86 dan dilihat dari nilai signifikannya (2-tailed) yaitu 0,000 < 0,05. (4) Berpengaruh yang signifikan terhadap hasil belajar siswa dengan skor 60 meningkat menjadi 70 dan berdasarkan uji t mendapatkan nilai adalah 2, 09 < 6.892 > 2,86 dan dilihat dari nilai signifikan (2-tailed) yaitu 0,002 < 0,05.
