%X Language style is a condition that distinguishes a person's way of speaking to others. Language style is essentially something that the speaker is less conscious of while using it. Because of this situation, the speaker needs to be careful when speaking to the other person. When people use a style that does not fit the context, there will be misunderstandings with the other person. That problem is the reason why the researcher does this analysis. By using a qualitative method, the researcher analyzed the use of inappropriate language style by the main character in the More to the Story novel. The researcher uses the language style theory of Martin Joos and the theory of language use by Janet Holmes. The results show that the main character mainly uses inappropriate language style while speaking with a formal style in casual situations. In contrast, the least inappropriate language style finds when the main character talks casually in a formal situation. Lastly, the factors that most influence the use of language style are participation and background.
