Finally they continued their life at sea with a boat that was used as a place to live.In that situation, their relationship with Islam faded. They have indeed embraced (conversion of) Islam, but they are very strong in practicing the teachings of their ancestors. This phenomenon is still ongoing today.This study aims to answer the following questions: Who are the Duanu people and how do they live? When did Islam begin to be embraced and how was it practiced in the life of the Duanu Tribe? This study will raise social, cultural and religious backgrounds The Duanu tribe and their pattern of life in the context of recent Islamization.By using a theoretical framework Conversion and Diffusion theory (distribution) to local tribes. Don't miss itjust approach anthropology and using participatory observation research methods. This research is research qualitative. Data obtained from field observations, interviews, analysis of results from several sources. Researchers assume that The conversion pattern of the Duanu tribal Muslim community is indigenization, namely translating Islam in a local value order thathas implications for a paradox that occurs between internal and external. First, from the external itself, there are pragmatic-economic rational reasons that become rational factors for being paradoxical. The contribution for the researcher himself is to introduce the existence of the Duanu Tribe who live and try to maintain their existence amidst the swift currents of Islamization.
