S.Pd.I, NIM.: 1620411013 Y1 - 2018/05/23/ N2 - This research is caused by a number of problems about application of authentic assessment technique, especially in Arabic language field. One of those problems is the complexity of many techniques in the authentic assessment. For example, MAN 2 Yogyakarta and MA Mu?allimat Muhammadiyyah Yogyakarta which decides to use authentic assessment for Arabic language subject. Evidently, in the field, the teacher has not fully applied test and non test technique for Arabic language subject. Another problem is about the difference of Madrasah background that MAN 2 Yogyakarta is State Madrsah which must follow government rules whereas MA Muallimat Muhammadiyyah Yogyakarta is private Madrasah which has its own curriculum but it does not have to follow government rules. Besides, the teachers in those two Madrasahs are different that MAN 2 Yogyakarta has teachers with civil servant status but MA Muallimat Muhammadiyyah Yogyakarta has private teachers. The differences of course will influence how the learning process runs. This research is a field research using qualitative method. The method of collecting data uses observation, documentation, and interview method. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis which focuses on Arabic language learning with authentic assessment technique in MAN 2 Yogyakarta and MA Muallimat Muhammadiyyah Yogyakarta. The theory used is authentic assessment technique, that are test and non test technique in Arabic language learning. With those theories, the researcher analyzes the application of test and non test technique in Arabic language learning in State and Private Madrasah ?Aliyah including: 1) the process of applying authentic assessment by the teacher in Arabic language learning using test technique and 2) the process of applying authentic assessment by the teacher in Arabic language learning using non test technique. The result of this research shows that: 1) the application of test technique in MAN 2 Yogyakarta is already good for the teacher has done the planning, implementation, and follow-up in Arabic language learning whereas in MA Mu?allimat Muhammadiyyah Yogyakarta is need to be improved for the teacher has not done the planning, implementation, and follow-up in Arabic language learning 2) the application of non test technique in MAN 2 Yogyakarta and MA Mu?allimat Muhammadiyyah Yogyakarta is already good enough for the teacher has done some attitude and skill competition assessment on learners in Arabic language learning.
