There are three purposes on this research, namely: the first, is to identify to what extent the students of the UNY use the Internet in the main library of UNY for academic purposes; the second, is to explore the number of the students of the UNY gets the information for their studies when accessing the Internet in the library; the third, is to describe to what degree the students of UNY get problem when they use the Internet in the library. The population on the research is the students of UNY who became the active users in the main library of UNY in 2006. Total population is 10.482 users. From this population, it can be taken sample 375 subjects. The number of samples is based on the Krescjie's and Morgan's table. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method. The result of the research shows that most of the students of the UNY use the Internet for academic purposes, it is signed by 63, 42\% of the students. The students use the Internet for searching information relating to their studies, as indicated by 82, 63\% of the students. They Internet help them to finish their assignments in the university. It is signed by 50, 78\% of the students. They never use it to communicate with their lecturers concerning their studies (the number is 50, 79\%) or to send their assignments via email to them (it is signed by 54, 74\% of the students), and even the Internet never been used for communication among them (the number is 51, 84\%). Most of the students get the information they need for their studies from the Internet, as indicated'by 56, 58\% of the students. Most of them (61, 85\% of the students) rarely get problems when they use the Internet in the library. Nevertheless, they have found the most problem of the Internet use related to slow access and the link is often error or offline.} }
