Not all libraries have rare collections, this is because these collections are only limited in number. This rare collection also requires different care and management from other public collections. The study of the problem in this research is how to preserve rare collections at the Grhatama Pustaka DPAD DIY Library Service Center and what obstacles are faced in the process. The purpose of this study is to determine the preservation of rare collections and the obstacles faced. The subject in this study is the librarian, while the object in this study is the process or activity of preserving rare collections. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The techniques used in data collection are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study are presented based on the theory of collection care from Lasa Hs which states that rare collection treatments include fumigation, lamination, encapsulation, and binding. The result of this research is that the Library Service Center of Grhatama Pustaka DPAD DIY preserves the collection by fumigation, lamination, binding, collection improvement, media transfer, language translation, and script translation. The obstacles faced in the process of preserving this rare collection are the lack of natural resources on duty and also the lack of facilities and infrastructure. The solution to the lack of human resources on duty is to add employees who are familiar with the field. The solution to the lack of facilities and infrastructure is to procure facilities and infrastructure.} }
