However, many students still have problems with happiness in their life. Among various factors, self-esteem and social comparisons are some factors that affect students' happiness. Therefore, this study aims to determine happiness in connection with social comparison and self-esteem in university students who use social media. The method of this study is quantitative. The sampling technique in this study is the accidental sampling technique. As for the measuring instruments, this study used a modified PERMA Profiler to measure happiness, a modified Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure to measure social comparison, and a modified State Self Esteem Scale to measure self-esteem. There were 151 college students participated in the research. The data in this study were analyzed using multiple regression with the help of IBM SPSS 26 for windows. The data analysis shows a relationship between social comparison and self-esteem to happiness with a significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05), a negative relationship between social comparison to happiness with a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05) and a B value of -1.159, and a positive relationship between self-esteem to happiness with a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05) and a B value of 1.729. The contribution of social comparison to happiness is 8.2%, while self-esteem to happiness is 53.8%. Thus together, social comparison and self-esteem contribute to 62% of happiness. date: 2022-07-26 date_type: published pages: 146 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS ILMU SOSIAL DAN HUMANIORA thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Nadya Salsabila, NIM.: 16710064 (2022) KEBAHAGIAAN DITINJAU DARI PERBANDINGAN SOSIAL DAN HARGA DIRI PADA MAHASISWA PENGGUNA MEDIA SOSIAL.
