%X The purpose of this research is to (1) identify students' mental models in  explaining the concepts on rotational dynamics and equilibrium of rigid body.(2)  knowing the consistency of the use of students' mental models in explaining the  material for rotational dynamics and rigid body equilibrium.  This is a descriptive quantitative research. This study involved 199 students  senior high school from SMAN 1 Mlati, SMAN 2 Sleman, SMAN 1 Ngaglik who had  studied the rotational dynamics and equilibrium of rigid body. The sample was  selected using stratified random sampling technique. In this research using a test  instrument rotational dynamics and rigid body equilibrium are multiple choice.  The results of the students' answers are then analyzed using model analysis.  Furthermore, interviews were conducted to dig deeper into the mental models of  the students.  Based on the model plot, some students already have a correct  understanding of the concepts of moment of force, moment of inertia, rigid body  equilibrium and have a mixed model on the concepts of rotational kinetic energy  and angular momentum. Each concept has eigenvalues that vary from 0.61 until  0.84, the magnitude of the eigenvalues (>0.65) shows that students are consistent  in using mental models
