"This study is prompted by criticism to the educational activities\r\nundertaken by Islamic educational institutions for their lack of\r\nphilosophical foundation while adopting Western educational\r\nphilosophy. On the contrary, as a reputable school, Al-Maqbul Islamic\r\nBoarding School refuses to make transformation into a modern one.\r\nThe school is not influenced by the Western philosophy and still\r\npreserves the traditional education system.\r\nTherefore, the purpose of this study is to explain why Al-\r\nMaqbul Islamic Boarding School continues adhering to the\r\nconventional education system. It is viewed from the perspective of\r\nIslamic education philosophy, which is founded on ontology,\r\nepistemology, and axiology. This research is field research that takes\r\nplace at Al-Maqbul Islamic Boarding School in Kuwolu Bululawang,\r\nMalang. This qualitative research seeks to describe the data obtained\r\nfrom the field and literature related to the discussion. The purpose of\r\nthis research is to examine how education is implemented. Data\r\ncollection approaches such as observation, interview, and\r\ndocumentation were used. All data were evaluated in stages: 1. data\r\nreduction, 2. data presentation, and 3. conclusion of the research\r\nfindings. Validating data requires triangulation in two ways: multiple\r\ndata and multi-methods.\r\nThe outcomes of this study are: (1) The school’s adherence to\r\nthe traditional education system is strongly motivated by the\r\ndevelopment of its educational philosophy. To comprehend this, it\r\nneeds to understand, first, the educational goal formulation and,\r\nsecond, the influence of philosophical ideas comprising ontology,\r\nepistemology, and axiology foundations on the school’s educational\r\ngoal formulation. (2) Monisms is evident in the ontology of Al-\r\nMaqbul Islamic Boarding School's pedagogical philosophy. The\r\nschool’s curriculum treats God, mankind, and the universe as objects.\r\nIts education's fundamental dimension is the human beings who\r\nconduct the pedagogical activities. It views education as a reciprocal\r\nprocess of human adjustment to the environment and to fellow human beings. If there are humans and the universe in education, there must\r\nbe God who created them, as neither can exist independently. (3) The\r\nBayani is found in Al-Maqbul Islamic Boarding School epistemology\r\nof education, but this does not indicate that the school negates the\r\nBurhani and Irfani epistemologies. The application of the Burhani\r\nappears in sciences such as logic, kalam, and ushul fiqh, while still\r\nemploying revelation references. Meanwhile, the Irfani is reflected in\r\nthe school’s beliefs on Laduni science. Laduni science, in a simple and\r\neasy-to-understand definition, is the process of obtaining knowledge\r\ndirectly experienced by a person without going through thinking,\r\nobservation, scientific methods, and understanding texts (bayan). (4)\r\nThe akhlāq at-Ṭā’ah dan akhlāq al-Fanā’ is noticeable in the\r\neducational ethics of al-Maqbul pesantren. This is seen in santri\r\n(students) of Al-Maqbul’s respect for loyalty to their Kyai.
