This research is a quantitative research with correlational method. The data collection technique used a questionnaire in the form of an emotional intelligence scale and a self-concept scale. The subjects in this study consisted of 69 class VIII students of MTs Negeri I Yogyakarta who were taken using convenience sampling technique. The data analysis technique uses SPSS for windows by conducting a Pearson product moment correlation test. The results showed that the level of emotional intelligence of students was in the moderate category of 46\% and the level of self-concept of students was also in the moderate category of 45\%. Based on the correlation test, the coefficient result is .792 and the p-value is .000. This means that there is a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and self-concept of class VIII MTs Negeri I Yogyakarta students. The level of closeness between emotional intelligence and self-concept shows a fairly high relationship of 63\%.} }
