Previously, there were many cases of online marriage among people who were in a distance between countries, either because of a job or other causes. But recently online marriage has become an option that occurs in Indonesia even though it is not far apart. This happened due to an emergency where Indonesia was attacked by an outbreak that could cause death to the sufferer, while a marriage is something that should be carried out close together and in the condition that the marriage involves more than two individuals. Of course, many parties question the legality of carrying out online marriages, because in essence Indonesia is a legal country where every action taken by either the government or its people is based on law. Therefore, a legality or a definite legal basis is needed in the implementation of online marriage itself. This research is a Library Research. In solving the problem, researchers use descriptive research methods of analysis with an empirical juridical approach, to see a legal reality in society and study it by referring to relevant legal provisions in Indonesia. The results of this study show that first, the legal policy on the ability of online marriage issued by Yogyakarta emphasizes an emergency where one of the bride and groom is really unable to attend the assembly. Second, that the practice of online marriage in Yogyakarta and the policies that are used as the fundamental basis for Peraturan Menteri Agama Number 20 of 2019 and mui fatwas from the 7th Ijtima Ulama as the basis for implementing online weddings in Yogyakarta %K Pernikahan Online, Pandemi COVID-19, Hukum Islam %D 2022 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib54497
