This research is included as a quasi experimental research type. The research design is Randomized Pretest-Posttest Control Group. The population of this research is all students of class X SMA N 2 Banguntapan. The sample of this research consists of students of class X2 and X3 as the experimental class and students of class X1 as the control class. The data of this research is in the form of pretest-posttest of learning result and thinking ability which is analyzed by one way Anava test followed by Scheffe test. The result of this research shows that the environment exploration approach with recitation is more effective than environment exploration approach, based on the result of Scheffe test with 0,016 significant valued; while the environment exploration approach with recitation and approach of lecturing have the same effectiveness with its significant value reach up to 0,586. On the aspect of thinking critically shows that there is no significant difference on the environment exploration approach with recitation, environment exploration approach and also lecturing approach based on Scheffe test for the environment exploration approach with recitation and environment exploration approach with 0,951 significant valued; while the environment exploration approach with recitation and lecturing with its significant value up to 0,144.
