In order to mitigate the spike in cases, the government has informed the public about policies. Social media has become the public's choice to get various information about COVID-19. The characteristics of content by users make content on social media very vulnerable to hoax information. Agents of change such as students should not be trapped in hoax information about COVID-19. This study was conducted to determine student receptions on hoax content on social media. This reception process can be seen from the perspective of individual differences, social categories, and social relations of Melvin De Fleur and Sandra Ball-Rokeach. Audience reception by Stuart Hall on media messages can be in a dominant position, negotiation, or opposition. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The method used for data collection is observation and in-depth interviews with resource persons in the Idekata Community. The results of this study indicate that the reception process carried out by students on hoax messages on social media puts them in a position of negotiation-opposition and opposition. Students tend to refuse and be skeptical so that there are no students who are trapped in the covid-19 hoax message.
