This was done by the santri, because they wanted to change the stereotype by some in the community that students who wear fashion that is not identical to the fashion of santri in general, such as sarongs, robes, are considered not to reflect the identity of a santri. The purpose of this study is to reveal the meaning of fashion thrifting style as self-identity among Yogyakarta students. This study uses the theory of Phenomenology from Alfred Schutz. This research was conducted through a qualitative descriptive approach. The selection of informants in this study used a purposive sampling method, with 5 students as the main informants and 1 practitioner of the fashion thrifting industry in Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques carried out in this study used interview and observation techniques. Data analysis from Miles and Huberman is in the form of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that students interpret the use of fashion thrifting as their way of presenting their identity which is expected to be identified by others specifically according to the characteristics of the fashion style, the brand of the thrifting fashion they wear, such as the cheer up, show up, fashion style. and identified as students who have unique tastes or preferences in dress that are different from the identity of students in general.
