One of the strategies used by the teacher is to use the 9 pillars of character book to show some good character examples of independence. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with research data sources in the form of documents and sources consisting of 30 PAUD teachers in KEC. Simpang Ulim Aceh Timur. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, to analyze data using data reduction techniques, data display, conclusion drawing (verification), then researchers tested the validity of the data using data triangulation techniques. The results showed that: (1) The strategy used by the teacher in forming an attitude of independence in children is by attracting the child's attention, reviewing every lesson that has been given to the child, and forming teaching and learning activities in a humorous, interesting and not rigid condition. (2) The implementation of the 9 pillars of character book helps teachers to show several examples of independence and responsibility for themselves and those around them by linking several activities to children's daily lives. (3) The implications of the strategies used by teachers through the 9 pillars of character book to form independence in children aged 5-6 years can make it easier for teachers to show real examples to children by linking several activities in children's daily lives and can help children to see the characters that are good and great for children to imitate some of the characters in the 9 pillars of character book.} }
