This study aims to determine the best composition of moringa leaf extract in the making of edible film from corn starch and aloe vera on the mechanical properties, Water Vapor Transmission Rate (VWTR) and to identify its effect on the quality of the manalagi apple based on weight loss. Mechanical properties test includes thickness, tensile strength, elongation, and modulus young. Moringa leaf extract variation added to edible film are 0,5; 1; and 1,5% (w/w total). The results showed that the best composition of edible film with the addition of 0,5% moringa leaf extract produced thickness of 0,065 mm, tensile strength of 21,3121 Mpa, elongation of 2,7387%, and modulus young of 7,7818 Mpa, and WVTR of 6,5 g/m2.jam. Manalagi apple without coated edible film (control) decreased weight loss at 22,47%. While manalagi apple coated edible film without the addition of extract moringa leaf decreased weight loss at 8,05% and manalagi apple coated edible film with the addition of 0,5% extract moringa leaf decreased weight loss at 6,56%. The use of edible film with addition of moringa leaf extract as a coating is able to reduce the weight loss of manalagi apple during storage. %Z Pembimbing: Endaruji Sedyadi, S.Si., M.Sc
