Cahyono Sigit Pramudyo, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng abstract: Companies with high levels of potential hazards such as WL Aluminum have an obligation to implement the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3). The implementation involves all elements of the company and is mandatory as an effort to reduce and prevent work-related accidents and occupational diseases. This study aims to identify and analyze potential hazards based on the AS/NZS 4360 risk matrix in the WL Aluminum production section as a form of initial review of the implementation of SMK3. The findings then can be used to provide recommendations for improvement based on the priority scale of risk ratings. The method in this study adopts the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) approach to identify the source of the hazard, along with risk assessment and analysis. On the other hand, the Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) method is used to analyze the causes, impacts, and control of hazards that must be carried out. The results showed 34 validated hazard sources where 9% were in the extreme hazard category, 59% in the high hazard category, 20% in the moderate hazard category, and 12% in the low hazard category. Suggestions for improvement are made with the help of the HAZOP analysis worksheet based on the known priority scale of potential hazards and 48 risk controls were obtained in this study case. Risk control measures follow the basic hierarchy of OHSAS 18001 risk control, namely substitution, technical, administrative, and personal protective equipment. Risk control is also based on the AS/NZS 4360 control strategy in the form of emphasizing the probability level and severity of a risk.
