Media and information literacy (MIL) olfers a set of competenciā‚¬s that can polentially equip people to handle information. LIS Departmenl which prepares students as informalion professktnals should inchde MIL in its curricuhtm. Most LIS Dep.trtment in lndonesia has informalion literacy in theit" utrricuhtm. This p"per aimt to explore the scope of Information Literacy teaching (lL) in library and information science (LIS) arrricula compared lo MIL competencies in order to identify the gap betu,een IL and MIL components that will be important feedback lo impro '-e the LIS atrricuhtm. This is qtnlitative research lhal employs obsentation, interview, and document review to gather data. Three LIS depertmenls from Islamic universities in Jaya are chosen a a sample to be studied (IJIN Yogyakarta, |JIN Malang, and UIN firulings). The finding shows lhat three LIS departments focus more on lL competencies for academic pt.ttposes and still do not inclnde media literuq, element.
