abstract: Poverty is a multidimensional problem that can cause disruption to social order. The East Java government is trying to eradicate the problem of poverty through various programs that have been established as well as an effort to recover the economy after the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to assess the effect of macroeconomic and financial variables on poverty levels in East Java Province. The independent variables in this study are economic growth, inflation rate, unemployment rate, Islamic bank financing, and the Covid-9 pandemic as dummy variables. The analytical method used is the ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag) method.
The results showed that economic growth had a significant negative effect in the short term while in the long term economic growth had a significant positive effect on the poverty rate in East Java. The inflation rate and unemployment rate have a significant positive effect in the short term and a significant negative effect on the poverty rate in the long term. while the variables of Islamic bank financing and the Covid-19 pandemic have a significant negative effect in the short and long term on the poverty rate in East Java.
