Both internal and external obstacles give not only student learning outcomes effect but also the emotions and character formed in children. This study analyzed the communication strategies teachers and parents used in As-Salima Integrated Islamic Kindergarten of Kaliangkrik in character building for children in distance learning that use communication strategy theory and social penetration theory. This research used a case study approach of the qualitative method. Data were collected using observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results showed that teachers-parents interpersonal communication strategies in character building for children in distance learning are implementable. However, it cannot run optimally due to varied obstacles. The strategies include recognizing the audience, composing messages, determining methods, and choosing media usage. Building children's character in distance learning is carried out through habituation, exemplariness, advice or dialogue, and rewards or punishments. In distance learning, all learning activities are child-centered, whereas teachers and parents are role facilitators. Teachers and parents build interpersonal communication through online media to create balanced cooperation as facilitators for children learning from home. %K communication strategy; distance learning; character; early childhood %D 2023 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib58224
