Employees who experience work overload have a very negative impact. Therefore, strategic management is needed to control employee work-overload. This study aims to find out the forms of work-overload, the causes of employee work-overload and what are the strategies for controlling employee work-overload in the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Magelang Regency, especially in the Madrasah Education Section, Early Education Section and Islamic Boarding Schools, as well as Islamic Religious Education Section. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative research type. The research informants included 1 head of office, 1 head of the Madrasah Education Section and 2 staff, 1 Head of the Diniyyah Education and Islamic Boarding Schools Section and 2 staff, 1 Head of the Islamic Religious Education Section and 2 staff. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques consist of data collection, data reduction, and data presentation. Test the validity of the data using source triangulation and method triangulation. The results of this study indicate that: First, the forms of work-overload in the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Magelang Regency are work targets that must be completed quickly, over time, less effective workspace layouts, tasks coming together, and helping other employees work. Second, the causes of work overload at the Office of the Ministry of Religion in Magelang Regency are due to time pressure, working hours exceeding normal standards, noise or work environment disturbances, and excessive information.. Third, the strategy used in controlling work-overload is to use strategic management theory which consists of formulating a strategy that includes providing good facilities and infrastructure and establishing good communication, strategy implementation is carried out by accepting apprentices, implementing a digital signature system for letters out, creating online web service innovations, collaborating with Sub-District Religious Extension and strategy evaluation includes evaluating employee performance every one week, evaluating performance achievement reports every month and evaluating activities carried out conditionally.
