This type of research is quasi experiment with nonequivalent control group design. Sampling in this study with technique of non-random sampling. The instrument used were C4 cognitive pretest and posttest questions and observation sheets of student’s science process skills. The data analysis technique used is a nonparametric statistical thecnique, namely the Mann Whitney Test, Effect Size, and Normalized Gain (N-Gain) as well as qualytative descriptive analysis. The result showed that : (1) There were difference in C4 cognitive learning result between students who took inquiry learning and students who took conventional learning, seen from the result of the Mann Whitney test, the sig.(2-tailed) values was 0,009 < 0,05; (2) The guided inquiry learning model is effective for improving C4 cognitive learning outcomes. The effectiveness of the guided inquiry learning model can be seen from the effect size, which is 0,71. (3) The guided inquiry learning model is effective for improving student’s science process skills as seen by student activities during the learning process based on the results of observations in each lesson.
